Pollington-Balne CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding Policy which can be found on the link below.

The Safeguarding Team

The team will seek advice and follow the school safeguarding policy and other linked policies (such as whistle blowing) as appropriate. The DSL will ensure that each member of the team attends training which is necessary for them to fulfil their role.

At Pollington-Balne Primary School we believe Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families and carers has a role to play in safeguarding children. We want to work in partnership with you, and discuss with you, any concerns we may have or that you may have. Since the first priority is your child’s welfare, there may be rare occasions when our concern about your child means that we have to consult other agencies even before we contact you.

The East Riding Safeguarding Children Partnership (ERSCP) has laid down the procedures we follow, and the school has adopted a Child Protection Policy in line with this for the safety of all. If you want to know more about our procedures or the policy, please speak to any of the Safeguarding Team.

Please follow the link to all our Safeguarding policies.

Safeguarding in schools is essential for keeping children safe.

It means having:

  • whole-school policies and procedures
  • staff and volunteers confident in identifying and raising concerns
  • leadership confident in responding to and referring concerns and working with other agencies to protect children
  • teaching resources to promote wellbeing.                                                                           (NSPCC 2023)

The health, safety and well - being of our children is of greatest importance. It is vital we ensure all our children and school community feel safe. Equally it is vitally important that when instances and difficulties occur, parents, children and staff know, as a school we have policies and procedures as well as an ethos of being able to take every practical measure to ensure that we are able and equipped to take appropriate and immediate action.

Everyone in our community has the responsibility to act on any concerns that they may have about a child’s well being and safety.

OPERATION ENCOMPASS

Pollington-Balne CE Primary School is part of a project run by Humberside Police called Operation Encompass.  The project aims to support children who are affected by Domestic Abuse.

As a result, following any domestic abuse incident specialist police officers will make contact with the school and communicate relevant and necessary information to nominated and trained school staff.  This will ensure that the school is made aware before the start of the next school day and can subsequently provide support in a way that means the child feels safe.
