School Exchange Visit & Enterprise Day 2011 26/04/2011
2 Comments

St. Mary's is our partner school, Class 1 have begun to do some joint projects with them, and after a visit to their school in Wakefield, where they tried on traditional asian dress, and sampled asian food, the children visited us for a taste of life in a rural school.  They had a lovely walk to the canal in time to see a barge, and looked around tractors, and had an 'up close' look at some farm animals.

During Enterprise Day each class was set a challenge whereby they had to think up innovative and creative ways of raising funds for school.

See some photos of these events in the Photo Album.

The HSA Auction which took place on Saturday 5th March raised a staggering £1,400 for School funds.  This is an amazing achievement and will hopefully already have the teachers thinking of exciting equipment for the children to spend it on!

An enormous THANKS has to go to the villages and businesses of Pollington, many of whom do not even have children in the school. Their generous donations were so much appreciated as was their willingness to dig deep in their pockets for the buying of the lots. We want to thank John Hart, Pollingtons very own auctioneer, who performed an outstanding job on our behalf and also Richard Law who provided the sound system for the evening as well as encouraging updates of running totals.

And finally but by no means least, a very special thank you to Alison & John Haggar who worked tirelessly to make the auction such an outstanding success. Many many thanks from all of the committee to you both.

Individual people/Businesses who we want to acknowledge for their generous lot donations include:-

International Week 29/11/2010
0 Comments

Wb.6/12/10 is our first International Week, and all the children in school will be spending the week learning about Thailand. We have links with ”WAT PRA NON NONG” school in Chiangmai, and some of the children from Class 2 have already been involved in interviewing a visiting Thai teacher. During the week, children will be provided with opportunities to compare the culture, traditions, geography, way of life in Thailand, with that of their own country. The week will culminate in an International Evening on Thursday 9th December, beginning at 6pm.

During the evening, parents, family and friends will be invited to board Pollington-Thai International Airways, and enjoy our on-board refreshments, before sitting back to enjoy a showcase of presentations of Thai culture and tradition, performed by your children.

Please see the latest Newsletter for details on how to obtain tickets.
